Best iPhone 12 mini cases
The iPhone 12 Mini is out now. One of five Apple handsets in a bumper year, it’s the smallest of the iPhone 12 range both in terms of price and size.
Its 5.4in OLED screen is comparatively tiny in the world of giant phones, but many people will appreciate having a one-handed device again. However, that and a smaller battery capacity are the only things you’re losing on 12 Mini when compared to the regular iPhone 12. You still get the latest A14 Bionic chip, dual 12Mp rear cameras and 5G connectivity.
We mentioned Apple’s official cases in our iPhone 12 and 12 Pro case round-up, and the same designs are available for these two models. In this article, we’re focusing on the best third-party options around, but will be sure to mention if it’s compatible with MagSafe.
As a quick disclaimer, we haven’t been able to test all these cases for ourselves but can recommend them due to the brand’s strong reputation for quality cases.
1. Nudient Thin
We’re now onto version 3 of Nudient’s signature Thin case, but it’s just as impressive as ever. Described as ‘the world’s thinnest, most precise case ever made for phones’, it provides great protection while adding almost no bulk to the device.
The case adds plenty of grip to your phone, while a fabric interior cushions the phone from any bumps and drops. It’s also fully compatible with MagSafe.
You can buy it now for £25.90/US$34.90.
2. Otterbox Defender
The Otterbox Defender has become something of a case round-up regular, and with good reason. The multi-layer construction provides truly excellent protection within a relatively slimline body. The secure clip on the back can also be attached to a belt or double as a kickstand.
It works with wireless charging, so we’d expect it to be the same for MagSafe.
You can buy it now for £42.99/US$59.95.
3. Spigen Liquid Air for iPhone 12 mini
Spigen’s Liquid Air range might not have the reputation of its Tough Armor or Rugged Armor cases, but it’s just as impressive.
It’s more affordable than many of the cases in this round-up, but maintains excellent built quality. The TPU design also includes ‘Air Cushion Technology’, which provides military-grade drop protection.
It’s compatible with wireless charging, which should include MagSafe.
You can buy it now for £12.99/US$24.99.
4. Moshi Altra
Moshi’s Altra case stands out in more ways than one. The headlining feature is a detachable wrist strap, which attaches magnetically to allow for hands-free phone usage. This can also be swapped out for a full body strap if you’d prefer.
This hardshell case also features a unique patterned design which prevents the phone from slipping out of your hands, and it definitely feels like it could absorb bumps and drops with ease.
It works with wireless charging, so we’d expect that to be the same with MagSafe too. You can buy it now for £44.95/US$44.95
5. 15:21 Cork
For a unique and sustainable case, 15:21’s Cork case is a great option. Despite being made from a completely natural material, it feels impressively sturdy and durable. We’d be confident of this case providing excellent protection for a very long time.
It supports wireless charging, which would suggest it’s also compatible with MagSafe. Buy it now for €35, which translates to around £31/US$41.
6. Ted Baker Anti-Shock
If you’re a fan of floral design, look no further than Ted Baker’s case. This gorgeous Elderflower pattern helps the iPhone mini to stand out from the crowd while also adding extra grip.
It doesn’t compromise on protection, though, with the TPU design giving the case excellent impact resistance. The bumpers also incorporate what Ted Baker is calling ‘AirWall’, said to enhance protection further.
What’s more, there’s full compatibility with MagSafe and Qi wireless charging. You can buy it now for £19.95/US$34.
7. Greenwich England Portland
If money is no object, Greenwich England’s Portland case adds lashings of luxury to the iPhone 12 mini. Made from ‘the world’s finest leather’, it’s among the most premium and stylish phone accessories you can find.
There’s also an electroplated finish and interior card slot, but it’s not clear whether it’s compatible with MagSafe.
You can buy it now for £169/US$227.
If you haven’t picked up one of the new phones yet, here’s are the best deals across all four iPhone 12 models.
